Dental Implants

Dental implants are a revolutionary way to restore function in a situation where a tooth has been lost or requires removal. Made from a biocompatible metal, an implant is fixture which is placed into your jaw during a minor surgical procedure. It has a slightly rough surface, which encourages fusion between your bone and the implant. Acting as a replacement tooth root, the implant can be restored with a crown, a bridge or a fixed denture. In some cases, implants can be placed to provide extra stabilisation for a removable denture.

Implants are an ideal solution for those who have missing teeth. Tooth loss can have a negative effect by causing bite-related irregularities. From an aesthetic point of view, the loss of teeth can have a psychological effect on people who might feel too embarrassed to smile or talk. Regardless of the nature of problems related to tooth loss, dental implants can offer a remedy with excellent results.

Placement of an implant requires meticulous preparation and a skilled hand. Dr Rammo uses the NobleGuide™ dental implant system. NobelGuide™ is a revolutionary treatment planning system that enables Dr Rammo to place your implant with extreme accuracy and ease thanks to the computer aided-3D design, which shows Dr Rammo the exact position and depth the implant needs to be before surgery. This information is used to produce a surgical template which guides the implant from the start to a completely successful placement.

Using the NobelGuide™ system, Dr Rammo can place your implant and restorative crown or bridge simultaneously, providing you with a more efficient and comfortable appointment with faster recovery.

In most cases, anyone healthy enough to undergo a dental extraction or oral surgery can be a candidate for an implant procedure. Patients should have healthy gums and enough bone volume to support the implant. They also must be committed to good oral hygiene and regular dental visits. Heavy smokers, people suffering from uncontrolled chronic disorders – such as diabetes or heart disease – or patients who have had radiation therapy to the head/neck area need to be evaluated on an individual basis.
