Keep Your Braces to Yourself
Now that you’ve landed that great new job, you can finally afford to get your teeth straightened.
Trouble is, you need to look professional in this new role of yours and you can hardly do that if you’ve got great chunks of metal cemented onto the front of your teeth.
No worries, you can get your teeth straightened with what are known as invisible braces from us at justSMILE, your dentist in Ramsgate and Woollahra near Bondi Junction.
Never heard of invisible braces?
That’s hardly surprising. They are invisible so you’re not going to notice anyone around you wearing them. Invisible braces from Invisalign and ClearCorrect don’t have brackets and wires. Instead, you receive a series of clear aligners, which look like extremely thin plastic mouth guards. Put one of these transparent aligners on over your teeth and they become pretty much invisible, more like a second layer of enamel than a mouth guard.
The straightening is done by the carefully placed pressure points inside each aligner. They press on the teeth and the jawbone responds by dissolving and rebuilding the bone around the tooth to relieve the pressure. You wear each aligner for one or two weeks before moving onto the next in the series.
Take them out
The other aspect of invisible braces that people love is that they are removable. In fact, you have to take them out every time you eat or drink anything other than plain water so that you don’t discolour the plastic and make your invisible braces visible.
With invisible braces, there are no restrictions on what you eat. You don’t have to change your diet to accommodate your dental treatment. All you have to do is clean your teeth before you put your braces back in. And wear them for at least 20 hours a day to keep up the pressure on your teeth.
Once your treatment is complete and your teeth are in their correct position, you will need to wear a retainer to keep them correctly aligned while the jawbone and the fibres that attach your teeth to their sockets settle down again.
Sounds easy doesn’t it? Come on in to find out more.
